# Gatedleads > Gatedleads is a lead magnet page builder. Pick a designed template, add your content, choose where the email form appears, and publish. Visitors enter their email to unlock the rest of the page, and every lead lands in your dashboard, ready to export or send to your other tools. ## What you can build - Gated lead magnet pages: checklists, cheat sheets, guides, ebooks, swipe files, case studies, reports, webinar replays and more - 500+ designed templates with real example copy: general starters (checklists, cheat sheets, swipe files, email scripts, guides, case studies, reports, playbooks, worksheets, a 5-day challenge and more) and niche templates, ten formats for each of 52 kinds of business, from accountants, financial advisors, real estate agents and recruiters to coaches, therapists, tutors, photographers and wedding planners - Every template can be restyled: 11 page styles (classic, depth, glass, grain, gradient, minimal, editorial, immersive, mesh, kinetic, brutalist), a bento layout option, header colour presets and custom gradients, a font library grouped by mood, optional motion effects, and a light or dark theme per page - Brand Kit: save your logo, favicon, company name, colours and fonts once, then apply them to any page or template in one click - A block editor with drag-and-drop reordering and inline text formatting - PDF upload: attach a file (up to 25MB) that unlocks for download after the email is submitted ## How the gate works - Inline gate: the first few blocks are free to read, the rest unlocks in place once the visitor submits the form - Squeeze gate: the form appears before any content - The gate can also appear after a set time on page or when the reader clicks "continue reading" - The form collects email, with optional name, phone and company fields (each can be optional or required) - After submitting, content reveals instantly on the same page, or the lead can be sent to a redirect URL such as a booking page or offer - Optional double opt-in to confirm email addresses - The locked content is never sent to the browser before sign-up. The server sends only the free preview, and the rest (plus any PDF download link) is returned after the form is submitted, so it cannot be read from the page source - Returning visitors keep access for a year from their last visit without entering their email again, unless they clear their browser data or switch device - Search engines see only the free preview, so that is the part that can rank. Each page can also be hidden from search engines entirely ## Leads and analytics - All leads stored in a dashboard with search and CSV export - Zapier and webhook integration to push leads into a CRM, email tool or spreadsheet - Email notification for each new lead - Per-page analytics: views, leads, conversion rate, traffic sources and UTM parameters - A/B headline testing ## Publishing - Free pages live at gatedleads.com/page-slug - Custom domains with automatic HTTPS (Pro) - Embed a page on an existing website with a copy-paste snippet - Per-page SEO title and description settings ## Pricing - Free: $0. One lead magnet page, all 500+ templates, 30 days of lead and analytics history, Gatedleads badge on the page. No visitor or lead cap. - Pro: $29/month. Unlimited pages, custom domains, Zapier and webhooks, A/B headline testing, no Gatedleads branding, full lead history, and 3 team seats alongside the account owner. - Pro is billed monthly with a 30-day money-back guarantee. - Downgrading never deletes pages or leads. On Free, the page with the most leads stays live and any other pages are unpublished (kept, not deleted) until the account upgrades again and republishes them. ## Data and privacy - Hosted on a server in the United Kingdom, with the database and backups in the same UK environment - For leads collected on a page, the account holder is the data controller and Gatedleads is the data processor - Account holders can export or delete leads at any time. Free plan history older than 30 days is deleted automatically - Anyone who signed up on a Gatedleads page can request removal at https://gatedleads.com/forget - [Privacy Policy](https://gatedleads.com/privacy) ## Who it is for - Marketers running campaigns that need to capture leads, not just traffic - Consultants turning a framework, audit or checklist into a lead magnet that qualifies prospects - Creators growing an email list from content they already share - Coaches and service businesses (real estate agents, accountants, photographers and more) turning what they already explain to clients into a lead magnet that books the next call ## Key pages - [Homepage](https://gatedleads.com/) - [Templates](https://gatedleads.com/templates): lead magnet templates by format and niche, each shown as a finished sample page - [Lead magnet builder](https://gatedleads.com/lead-magnet-builder) - [Gated content](https://gatedleads.com/gated-content) - [Lead magnet landing page](https://gatedleads.com/lead-magnet-landing-page) - [Content gating](https://gatedleads.com/content-gating) - [Pricing](https://gatedleads.com/#plans) - [About](https://gatedleads.com/about) - [Blog](https://gatedleads.com/blog): guides on creating, gating and promoting lead magnets - [Sign up free](https://gatedleads.com/login?mode=signup) - [Privacy Policy](https://gatedleads.com/privacy) - [Terms of Service](https://gatedleads.com/terms) ## Useful guides - [What is a lead magnet](https://gatedleads.com/blog/what-is-a-lead-magnet) - [How to create a lead magnet](https://gatedleads.com/blog/how-to-create-a-lead-magnet) - [Lead magnet examples that convert](https://gatedleads.com/blog/lead-magnet-examples-that-convert) - [Inline gating vs squeeze pages](https://gatedleads.com/blog/inline-gating-vs-squeeze-pages) - [Require an email to download a PDF](https://gatedleads.com/blog/require-email-to-download-pdf) - [Gate content without code](https://gatedleads.com/blog/gate-content-without-code) - [Lead magnet conversion rate](https://gatedleads.com/blog/lead-magnet-conversion-rate) - [How to promote a lead magnet](https://gatedleads.com/blog/how-to-promote-a-lead-magnet) ## Comparisons - [Gatedleads vs Carrd](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/carrd) - [Leadpages alternative](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/leadpages) - [OptinMonster vs a standalone gated page](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/optinmonster) - [Stan Store vs a lead magnet tool](https://gatedleads.com/blog/stan-store-vs-lead-magnet-tool) - [Beacon alternative](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/beacon) - [Thrive Leads alternative](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/thrive-leads) - [ConvertBox alternative](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/convertbox) - [Unbounce alternative](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/unbounce) - [Designrr alternative](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/designrr) - [ClickFunnels alternative](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/clickfunnels) - [MailerLite alternative](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/mailerlite) - [Mailchimp alternative](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/mailchimp) ## More - [Full reference for AI assistants (FAQ, every comparison, every post, all templates)](https://gatedleads.com/llms-full.txt) ## Contact - hello@gatedleads.com --- # Full reference ## Frequently asked questions ### About Gatedleads **What is Gatedleads?** Gatedleads is a lead magnet page builder. You publish a page where part of the content stays hidden until a visitor enters their email, then the rest unlocks on the same page and the lead lands in your dashboard. It covers the page, the gate and the lead capture in one tool, so there is nothing to build or connect yourself. **How is Gatedleads different from Leadpages, Beacon or OptinMonster?** Gatedleads does one job: gating a page of content behind an email form. Leadpages and OptinMonster are broader tools for landing pages, pop-ups and campaigns, and Beacon is a lead magnet builder now owned by OptinMonster. If all you need is one well-built gated page, Gatedleads is lighter. Each one has its own comparison page, such as gatedleads.com/alternatives/leadpages, gatedleads.com/alternatives/beacon and gatedleads.com/alternatives/optinmonster, and the rest are listed under Compare at the foot of every page. **Does Gatedleads work with Mailchimp, Kit or HubSpot?** Yes, through Zapier or a webhook, on the Pro plan. Gatedleads sends each new lead to the Zapier or webhook connection you set up, so it can reach Mailchimp, Kit, HubSpot or most other tools. On any plan you can also export your leads to CSV. ### Plans and billing **How much does Gatedleads cost?** Gatedleads has a free plan with one page, and Pro costs $29 a month, billed monthly. The free plan has no visitor or lead cap. Pro adds unlimited pages, your own domain, Zapier and webhooks, A/B headline testing and full history, and comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. **Does the free badge really come off on Pro?** Yes. On Gatedleads, free plan pages show a small Gatedleads badge. Upgrade to Pro and it's gone on every page, no exceptions. **Is there a limit on visitors or leads on the Free plan?** No visitor or lead cap on the Gatedleads Free plan. The plan limits are one page, 30 days of history, and the Gatedleads badge, not traffic. **Is Pro really unlimited pages?** Yes, for normal use. On Gatedleads Pro you can build as many lead magnet pages as you need. Mass-generated or abusive use falls outside our fair use terms. **What happens to my page and leads if I cancel or downgrade?** Nothing is deleted. When a Gatedleads account moves to Free, the page with the most leads stays live and any other pages are unpublished, with their content and leads kept. You can choose a different page to be the live one, or upgrade again and republish the rest. A custom domain stops routing until you're back on Pro, and lead and analytics history older than 30 days is not kept on the Free plan. **How does the money-back guarantee work?** Gatedleads Pro is billed monthly with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Email hello@gatedleads.com within 30 days of your first Pro payment and we'll refund it in full, no reason or conditions required within that window. ### Using Gatedleads **What counts as a 'page' I can gate? Can I gate more than one kind of content?** In Gatedleads, a lead magnet page can hold anything you write in the block editor (guides, checklists, case studies, swipe files) plus a PDF you upload. Visitors see a preview, then the rest of the page and the file unlock after they give their email. One gate per page, placed wherever your free preview ends. **Can I gate a PDF?** Yes. Upload your PDF (up to 25MB) to a Gatedleads lead magnet page, on any plan. Visitors see a preview of what is inside, and the file unlocks after they give their email. The download link is only handed out once they sign up, so the file never sits on an open URL. **Can someone read the locked part of the page by viewing the source?** No. Gatedleads only sends a visitor's browser the free preview. The locked part of the page stays on our server and is sent only after the visitor submits the form, so it is not hidden in the page code waiting to be found. A PDF works the same way, with its download link handed out only after sign-up. **Do returning visitors have to enter their email again?** No. Once a visitor unlocks a Gatedleads page, their browser keeps that access for a year from their last visit, so they can come back and read the whole page without filling in the form again. If they clear their browser data or switch device, they enter their email once more. **Will Google index the locked part of my page?** No. Search engines see what any first-time visitor sees, which is the free preview, so that is the part of a Gatedleads page that can rank. The locked content is never sent until someone signs up. If you would rather the page did not appear in search at all, each page has a setting to hide it from search engines. **Where is lead data stored, and how does Gatedleads handle GDPR?** Gatedleads runs on a server in the United Kingdom, with the database and backups in that same UK environment. For the leads your pages collect, you are the data controller and Gatedleads acts as your data processor, as set out in the privacy policy. You can export or delete leads at any time, Free plan history older than 30 days is deleted automatically, optional double opt-in confirms each email address, and anyone who signed up can ask for their details to be removed through the request form at gatedleads.com/forget. **Do I need to know how to code for a custom domain?** No. Point one CNAME record at Gatedleads from wherever you manage your domain, and the HTTPS certificate is issued automatically the first time the page is visited. No server, no manual SSL setup. **Does Gatedleads replace a landing page builder?** Not entirely. Gatedleads is built specifically for gated content pages, not general landing pages of every kind. If the job is turning a guide, checklist, or report into a lead-capturing page, it does that one thing well without the extra setup a full page builder needs. ### Lead magnet basics **What is a lead magnet?** A lead magnet is something valuable you give away, like a guide, checklist, or template, in exchange for a visitor's contact details. Gatedleads turns any lead magnet into a page with the gate and sign-up form already built in. **What is gated content?** Gated content is a page, guide, or resource that visitors can only fully access after taking an action, usually entering their email. Gatedleads lets you gate part of a page so a visitor sees enough to know it's worth their email before the rest unlocks. **What's the difference between gated and ungated content?** Ungated content is open to anyone with the link. Gated content shows a preview and asks for an email before the rest unlocks, which is what Gatedleads is built for. ## Comparison pages - [Gatedleads vs Beacon](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/beacon): Beacon and Gatedleads both help you turn content into a gated lead magnet. Here is an honest comparison of templates, pricing, and setup. - [Gatedleads vs Thrive Leads](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/thrive-leads): Need a Thrive Leads alternative that works without WordPress? Compare Thrive Leads with a hosted gated page on setup, WordPress dependency and free plan. - [Gatedleads vs ConvertBox](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/convertbox): ConvertBox is a flexible on-site popup and targeting tool with an established following. Here is how it compares to Gatedleads for gating a single page. - [Gatedleads vs Unbounce](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/unbounce): Unbounce is built for paid-traffic landing pages with deep A/B testing and AI copy tools. See how it compares to Gatedleads for one gated page. - [Gatedleads vs Designrr](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/designrr): Designrr turns existing content into a polished PDF or ebook. Gatedleads gates content on a live page instead. Here is how the two differ. - [Gatedleads vs ClickFunnels](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/clickfunnels): ClickFunnels is a powerful multi-step funnel builder with a large ecosystem. If you just need one gated lead magnet page, here is an honest look at the fit. - [Gatedleads vs MailerLite](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/mailerlite): If you already pay for MailerLite, can it gate a lead magnet page too? Here is an honest comparison with Gatedleads, built specifically for gating content. - [Gatedleads vs Mailchimp](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/mailchimp): Mailchimp is a strong email platform, but its landing pages are built for opt-in forms, not gating. Keep it for sending and add a gated page that feeds it over Zapier. - [OptinMonster vs a Standalone Gated Page: Do You Need Popups at All?](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/optinmonster): OptinMonster adds popups and content locking to a site you already have. If the resource doesn't have a home yet, a standalone gated page skips the popup layer and the site requirement entirely. - [Leadpages Alternatives: Cheaper and Free Options for 2026](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/leadpages): Leadpages is a mature, full-featured landing page platform, and priced like one. If all you need is one well-built gated lead magnet page, a lighter tool built for exactly that job can be the better fit. - [Gatedleads vs Carrd: Which Is Better for Lead Magnet Pages?](https://gatedleads.com/alternatives/carrd): Carrd is a great cheap one-page site builder, but it has no native way to gate content behind an email. If gating is the actual job, that gap matters more than the price difference. ## Blog posts - [Lead Magnets for Nutritionists](https://gatedleads.com/blog/lead-magnets-for-nutritionists) (2026-10-17): Nutritionists and dietitians win clients with meal planning templates, shopping lists and food label guides built around everyday eating, never medical advice or promised results. - Here is a simpler way to think about it. - [How to Connect a Custom Domain to a No-Code Landing Page](https://gatedleads.com/blog/custom-domain-landing-page-free-ssl) (2026-09-09): Add one CNAME record pointing at gatedleads.com and your page loads on your own domain, with the HTTPS certificate issued automatically the first time anyone visits it. - [Lead Magnet Ideas for Coaches (No Designer Needed)](https://gatedleads.com/blog/lead-magnet-ideas-for-coaches) (2026-09-07): Coaches sell transformation more than process, so a self-assessment worksheet, a script pack, or a short workshop replay tends to work better than a generic ebook, and none of it needs a designer. - [The Best Lead Magnet Format for Consultants (and How to Publish It in Minutes)](https://gatedleads.com/blog/best-lead-magnet-format-for-consultants) (2026-09-06): For most consultants, a self-assessment audit or a checklist built from your real methodology outperforms a generic guide, because it demonstrates your process instead of just describing it. - [Pricing Guide Lead Magnets: Capture Leads Who Are Ready to Buy](https://gatedleads.com/blog/pricing-guide-lead-magnets) (2026-09-05): Someone reading a pricing guide is actively trying to figure out what to charge or what to pay, which makes them one of the highest-intent leads a service business can capture. - [How to Turn a Comparison Guide Into a Lead Magnet](https://gatedleads.com/blog/turn-comparison-guide-into-lead-magnet) (2026-09-04): A comparison guide converts well as a lead magnet because anyone reading one is already close to a decision. Gate the scoring table and recommendations, not the honest overview of each option. - [Cheat Sheet Lead Magnets: How to Make One in Under an Hour](https://gatedleads.com/blog/cheat-sheet-lead-magnet) (2026-09-03): A cheat sheet is fast to write because it's not prose, it's a scannable reference. Pick one narrow topic, structure it as weak version vs strong version, and you can have it published inside an hour. - [How to Build a Swipe File Lead Magnet People Actually Save](https://gatedleads.com/blog/swipe-file-lead-magnet) (2026-09-02): A swipe file earns a permanent spot in someone's bookmarks when every example has a real result attached and a note on why it worked, not just a list of things that sound clever. - [How to Create a Checklist Lead Magnet That Converts (Template Included)](https://gatedleads.com/blog/checklist-lead-magnet-template) (2026-09-01): A checklist converts when it's built from a process you actually run, broken into clear stages, not a generic list of tips. Start from a real template and gate it after the first stage. - [Time-on-Page vs Click-to-Unlock Gating: Which Trigger Wins?](https://gatedleads.com/blog/time-on-page-vs-click-to-unlock-gating) (2026-08-31): Neither wins outright. A time-based delay works well when a few extra seconds signals real engagement; click-to-unlock works well when you want the visitor to control the pace instead of being interrupted. - [How to Gate a Blog Post After the First Few Paragraphs](https://gatedleads.com/blog/gate-blog-post-after-first-paragraphs) (2026-08-30): Write the post as blocks, set the gate position to two or three paragraphs in, and the rest unlocks after an email. It's inline gating applied to an article instead of a checklist or template. - [Inline Gating vs Squeeze Pages: When to Gate Upfront vs After a Few Blocks](https://gatedleads.com/blog/inline-gating-vs-squeeze-pages) (2026-08-29): Inline gating shows some real content before the form; a squeeze page shows the form immediately. The setting is the same gate position number, just at zero or higher. - [Squeeze Page vs Content Upgrade: Which Converts Better for Your Offer?](https://gatedleads.com/blog/squeeze-page-vs-content-upgrade) (2026-08-28): A squeeze page (gate everything upfront) usually converts a higher share of the people who reach it. A content upgrade (real preview, then gate) usually brings in more total leads from content-driven traffic, because it earns trust first. - [Stan Store vs a Dedicated Lead Magnet Tool: When You Don't Need a Storefront](https://gatedleads.com/blog/stan-store-vs-lead-magnet-tool) (2026-08-25): Stan Store is built to sell things, digital products, courses, coaching calls. If all you need is one free resource that captures an email, a dedicated gating tool fits the job better than a storefront. - [Gate a Notion or Google Doc Behind an Email (The Easy Way)](https://gatedleads.com/blog/gate-notion-google-doc-behind-email) (2026-08-23): Notion and Google Docs sharing links don't support an email gate on their own. The easy fix is publishing the content as a gated page instead, or gating the page that reveals the doc's link. - [How to Send Landing Page Leads to Your CRM Without Zapier](https://gatedleads.com/blog/send-leads-to-crm-without-zapier) (2026-08-21): If your CRM accepts an inbound webhook, you can send new leads to it directly with a plain JSON POST, no Zapier account or Zap in between. - [How to Require an Email to Download a PDF (Without Duct-Taping Tools Together)](https://gatedleads.com/blog/require-email-to-download-pdf) (2026-08-20): The simplest way to require an email for a PDF is to stop hosting it on a public link. Upload it to a gated page instead: visitors see a preview, and the file unlocks after they give their email. - [How to Replace the Zapier + Google Sheets + PDF Lead Magnet Stack With One Tool](https://gatedleads.com/blog/replace-zapier-sheets-pdf-stack) (2026-08-19): The usual lead magnet stack is a doc, a form tool, a Zap, and a spreadsheet, glued together and one broken link from failing silently. Here's what replaces the whole thing. - [How to Gate Content Without Code (No WordPress Plugin Needed)](https://gatedleads.com/blog/gate-content-without-code) (2026-08-18): You don't need WordPress or a plugin to gate content. A standalone gated page with a built-in email form does the same job with no installs, no conflicts, and no PHP. ## Template directory Every template is a finished sample lead magnet page that can be opened in the editor and edited. ### By format - [Checklist lead magnet templates](https://gatedleads.com/templates/checklists): 52 checklist lead magnet templates, from a year-end records list to a campaign launch check.
