Course Launch Email Sequence: Emails to Copy

A course launch email sequence is a planned run of emails sent to your list before, during and at the close of enrolment. The sequence below covers a launch week in seven emails, each with a subject line and full copy. It assumes you already have a course, a sales page and a list of people who asked to hear from you. If you need to build those first, the separate course launch checklist covers the preparation.

Write the whole sequence before the launch begins, load it into your email tool and schedule it. That leaves you free to answer questions and fix problems during the week. The rest of the launch, from validating the idea to the sales page, is covered in our course creation and launch checklist.

The launch week at a glance

Email When Purpose
1. Doors open soon [Day before opening] Prepare your readers
2. Enrolment is open Day 1 Announce and explain
3. A question people ask Day 2 Answer an objection
4. A student or founder story Day 3 Show what the course feels like
5. What is inside Day 4 Describe the course in detail
6. Closing tomorrow Day 6 Remind with a clear deadline
7. Last chance Day 7, morning Final reminder

Adjust the length to suit you. A shorter or longer window works as long as the close date is real.

Scheduling the sequence

Nearly all email tools let you write messages in advance and set a date and time for each to go out. The usual steps are the same everywhere: create the email, choose the audience, pick the send time, and confirm the time zone. If you have subscribers in several countries, choose a time that works for most of them, such as a morning in your largest market, and state the deadline with a time zone in every message.

Test the sequence before it goes live. Send each email to yourself, click every link and check the checkout from the sales page. Then look at what the schedule shows for each email and compare it with your plan.

For an LMS launch email, check what your platform can do. Some learning platforms include announcement or enrolment emails, while others expect you to use a separate email tool. Whichever you choose, keep the wording consistent with the sequence so that buyers do not receive conflicting messages.

Emails after purchase and after the close

Add two short messages for people who join and one for those who do not.

Email Subject Content
Welcome "Welcome to [course name]" Login steps, where to start, how to ask for help
First week "How is your first week going?" One question, plus a link to support
Not joined "Enrolment has closed" Thank them, share what happens next and when you will open again

Where subscribers come from

A launch works best with a warm list. A branded page offering a free resource related to your course lets interested people join before you open enrolment. Gatedleads has templates for course creators, and you can have a page live in under 10 minutes. Our post on lead magnets for course creators has ideas, and the course creator email scripts template and course creator checklist template are ready-made pages.

Frequently asked questions

How many emails should a course launch sequence have?

Five to eight emails across launch week is a common pattern. Include one before opening, several during enrolment and at least two reminders before the close.

Can I schedule course launch emails in advance?

Yes. Nearly all email tools let you set dates and times for each message. Check the time zone and send test messages first.

What should a course launch email say?

State what the course is, who it is for, what students receive, the price and the deadline. Each email should have one focus and one link.

Should I send emails to people who have not opened earlier ones?

Reminder emails near the close are generally fine for your whole launch list. Make sure every email includes an easy way to unsubscribe.
