Leadpages Alternative for WordPress Sites

If you run a WordPress site and want a Leadpages alternative, the choice usually comes down to whether you need pages served inside WordPress or are happy to send visitors to a separate hosted page on your own domain. Leadpages offers a plugin that serves its pages from your WordPress address, but according to its support article it needs a paid plan from Grow upwards. The options below explain what that plugin does, what it costs and when a simpler hosted page, or a gating tool inside WordPress, is a better fit.

What the Leadpages WordPress plugin does

Leadpages' support documentation says the plugin links your WordPress site to your Leadpages account. When a visitor opens a landing page at a WordPress URL, the plugin fetches the latest published version from Leadpages and serves it on your domain. You assign each published page a WordPress slug, such as /launch, and the page can also be set as your homepage. Leadpages says the WordPress address is the canonical URL, which matters for search engines and social previews.

Editing stays in Leadpages. The support article states that you cannot edit these pages inside WordPress, that changes must be published in Leadpages to appear, and that caching plugins or a CDN can show out of date content. If you deactivate the plugin, assigned pages stop serving until you reactivate it.

What it needs and what it costs

The support article lists WordPress admin access, at least one published page and a paid Leadpages plan. It names Grow, Optimize and Scale, and says trial and free plans do not support the plugin. The Leadpages integrations page does not state which plans include it.

Checked in November 2026, the Leadpages pricing page shows the following.

Plan Monthly price Pages
Pro $15 25
Business $25 50
Grow $50 Unlimited
Optimize $100 Unlimited

These are the prices on the plan cards. The same page quotes higher figures in its header and FAQ ($29, $49, $99 and $199), and its FAQ also mentions a Scale plan at $399. Because the support article lists plugin eligibility from Grow upwards, the cheapest plan that appears to include it is $50 a month on the plan cards. That inference is ours, so confirm with Leadpages before you buy. Our Leadpages review covers each plan in more detail, and our Leadpages alternatives comparison looks at other tools.

Three ways to approach lead capture on WordPress

Approach How it works Best for Watch out for
Leadpages plugin Pages built in Leadpages are served at a WordPress URL People who want landing pages on their WordPress domain and already use Leadpages Plan cost, caching, dependence on the plugin staying active
A separate hosted page on your own domain You build the page elsewhere and link to it from WordPress, often on a subdomain People who want a focused lead magnet page without changing their WordPress setup The page sits outside WordPress, so analytics and design need to be aligned
A WordPress gating plugin Content on a WordPress page is restricted until a visitor leaves details People who want to keep everything inside WordPress Plugin quality, maintenance, speed and security updates

Each route has a cost. A plugin keeps everything in one place but ties you to WordPress updates and your hosting. A hosted page adds a link between systems but keeps the page simple and separate from your site.

When a hosted page is the better fit

If your goal is a single lead magnet, such as a guide, a checklist or a price list, a separate branded page can be a clean answer. Visitors click a link from your WordPress site, arrive at a page designed around one offer, leave their details and receive the resource. Your WordPress theme does not need to be adjusted, and a plugin update is less likely to break the page.

Gatedleads works this way. It is a hosted page builder with 500+ templates and 18 content blocks, and a page can be live in under 10 minutes. On Pro, at $29 a month, you can use a custom domain, so the page can sit at an address such as guide.yourdomain.com, alongside your site. Pro also includes A/B headline testing, Zapier webhooks, removal of branding and three team seats, and the free plan includes one page with Gatedleads branding. Gatedleads is not a WordPress plugin, so if serving pages at a WordPress URL is essential to you, Leadpages' plugin or a WordPress plugin is a closer match.

When a WordPress gating plugin makes sense

Some site owners want to keep everything inside WordPress, for example restricting a long article or a download to people who leave their details. A gated content plugin for WordPress can do that without sending visitors elsewhere. The trade off is that you now depend on a plugin for something central to lead capture. Our guide to gating content on WordPress without a membership plugin covers another route.

When you compare plugins, ask these questions.

  1. Is it actively maintained and compatible with your version of WordPress?
  2. Where do leads go, and can you export them or send them to your email tool?
  3. How does it affect page speed?
  4. What does it do for search engines, and can your key pages stay open?
  5. What happens to your leads if you stop using the plugin?

Read recent reviews and the plugin's support forum before installing anything on a live site. Whatever you choose, our gated content best practices help you decide what to gate.

How to choose

Choose the Leadpages plugin if you already use Leadpages, want landing pages served from WordPress and are comfortable with the plan price. Choose a hosted page on your own domain if you want a simple, focused lead magnet and prefer to keep it separate from your WordPress setup. Choose a WordPress gating plugin if staying inside WordPress matters more than anything else. Whichever you pick, test the form yourself, check that leads reach your email tool or spreadsheet, and keep a copy of your leads.
